Ryncavage: More Than $1.6 Million Awarded for Local Projects
December 18, 2025
HARRISBURG - Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-Luzerne) today announced that more than $1.6 million in grant dollars will be coming to the 119th Legislative District. The grants were awarded through multiple Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) programs, including the Sewage Facilities Program; the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program (GTRP); and statewide Local Share Account (LSA) funding.
“By securing outside funding for these projects, we’re taking pressure off municipal budgets and ensuring taxpayers aren’t left holding the bag,” Ryncavage said. “These projects move neighborhoods forward while keeping municipal finances stable.”
Those receiving grants were:
Sewage Facilities Program:
Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority - $25,000 for Sans Souci Force Main Replacement.
Greenways, Trails and Recreation:
Wright Township – $175,000 for community pickleball courts.
Statewide LSA Funding
Ashley Borough – $56,525 for a police vehicle.
Newport Township – $105,000 for final phase of playground construction.
Plymouth Township – $500,000 for community sewer improvement project.
Sugar Notch Borough – $50,453 for police equipment.
Warrior Run Borough – $408,000 for road improvements to Front Street.
Wright Township –$152,444 for police vehicles.
Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority –$170,000 for equipment.
GTRP is part of Act 13 of 2012, which established the Marcellus Legacy Fund and allocates funds to the CFA to plan, acquire, develop, rehabilitate, and repair greenways, recreational trails, open spaces, parks and beautification projects.
Local Share Account grants support economic development, job training, community improvement and public interest projects through gaming funds under Act 71 of 2004.
The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to administer the Commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages. The Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act of 2004 provides for the distribution of gaming revenue through the CFA.
Ryncavage collaborated with Sens. Lisa Baker and Lynda Schlegel Culver to secure funding for the projects.
The 119th Legislative District is part of Luzerne County and includes the city of Nanticoke; the townships of Fairview, Hanover, Newport, Plymouth, Rice, and Wright; and the boroughs of Ashley, Edwardsville, Larksville, Plymouth, Sugar Notch, and Warrior Run.
