The Grass is Not Greener: Marijuana Bill that Gives Control to Liquor Control Board Passes on Party-Line Vote in the House
I recently joined Sue Henry on WILK Newsradio to discuss House Bill 1200, a 173-page bill that dropped on Sunday, May 4, and was fast tracked through the House Health Committee Monday. It was quickly brought up for a final vote in the House on Wednesday, passing on a 102-101 party-line vote after more than two hours of debate.
The bill legalizes recreational marijuana but gives full control to the Liquor Control Board to regulate and sell to adults at stare-run liquor stores like those that sell alcohol. Even supporters of legalization agree that selling marijuana exclusively through state-run stores is a non-starter.

Thank You, Mom
Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms and mother figures out there! The past weekend gave us an opportunity to reflect on these special women, whose sacrifices often go unnoticed, and their love assumed.
I feel incredibly blessed to still have my mother in my life. She is a constant source of inspiration. I am who I am today because of her endless love, selfless sacrifices, and the many lessons she’s taught me over the years. Thank you, Mom, for everything.

Clearing the Clutter: Electronics Recycling Debuts at Weekend Shredding Event in Hanover Township
A paper shredding and electronics recycling event my office hosted on Saturday in Hanover Township drew an impressive turnout, as residents took advantage of an opportunity to safely dispose of old documents and unwanted electronics. This event was the first we hosted to include an e-recycling component. Lines formed well before the official start time. My office staff and volunteers worked to keep the process smooth and organized for hundreds of participants.
Many constituents have been calling and asking for help disposing of their unwanted electronics, and we answered! We’re committed to continuing these events as long as our community remains engaged!
If you were unable to attend our event in Hanover Township, we will be hosting another shredding and e-recycling event on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. at Crestwood High School, 281 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, 18707.
Hope to see you there!

Shredding and electronics recycling, Saturday, Aug. 9, Crestwood High School, 281 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, 18707. |
The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The shredding event is available at no cost and gives individuals the opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive information. There is a limit of three boxes per car.
The electronics recycling program will be handled by a third-party recycling company out of Berwick. It helps to prevent difficult-to-dispose-of electronics from being illegally dumped. The electronics recycling event allows for free disposal of items such as computers (laptops and desktop), smartphones, tablets, printers, office phones, video game consoles, modems, routers, cameras, DVD players, VCRs, audio/video equipment, wires and chargers, hard drives, memory cards, power tools, and appliances.
Other items, such as LCD monitors, televisions and floor copiers, can be disposed of for a nominal fee to the recycling company.
Please contact my offices in Nanticoke, 570-902-4082, or Mountain Top, 570-403-2371, with questions about the electronics recycling program.
